Midwifery

A certified nurse-midwife is educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery and cares for women and their infants during the childbirth years. To become certified, the nurse-midwife must complete a course of study in an accredited education program, and pass a rigorous examination administered for the American College of Nurse-Midwives by the ACMN Certification Council, Inc. State requirements must also be met. The term Midwife means, "with woman". The safe, personalized healthcare by a nurse-midwife requires a special skill and understanding of the unique physical, social, and spiritual needs of women. Nurse-midwifery focuses on wellness and consumer choice. Women are encouraged to make informed decisions about their healthcare. CNM's welcome your questions and take time to listen to you and talk with you. They can provide you with well-woman gynecological care, including breast exams, Pap smears, and family planning.

At the Wareham Nurse Midwives we believe in the Midwifery model and maintain a commitment to all our patients of offering professional, personal and the most innovative care. We are the specialists in woman's healthcare and strive to uphold the highest standards by law and the kindest approach to every woman.
